INFO
"Breadcrumbs" are a navigational aid that allow users to keep track of their location within programs, documents, or websites. The term comes from the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale, in which the main characters create a trail of breadcrumbs to track back to their home.
Here's how breadcrumbs typically work in web navigation:
- Hierarchical Structure: They display the path or hierarchy leading up to the current page. For instance, if you are on a product page on an e-commerce site, the breadcrumbs might look like "Home > Category > Subcategory > Product".
- Clickable Links: Each element of the breadcrumb is usually a clickable link, allowing users to easily return to previous sections of the site. This is particularly helpful in deeply nested websites where users might navigate through several layers of content.
- Location Indicator: Breadcrumbs help users understand where they are in the website’s structure without having to rely on the back button or the website's main navigation menu.
- Space-Efficient: They are a space-efficient way of showing location, taking up less room than a full path or a more detailed navigation bar.
Step by Step
- Click on the 'Breadcrumb' navigation listing on the top menu bar.
- Selecting the text divided by the '/' symbol will open that location in the Web App.
- Click on the 'Copy link' icon next to the 'Breadcrumb' text to copy a web link to your clipboard. This link can be sent to other users to quickly access a target file or folder.
