View a preview, metadata, and available actions for an asset, which may be a file or a folder-as-a-file format such as RED clips with the .RDC extension.
Choose a file from the list to view its thumbnail and metadata.
Every time the file is selected, a new thumbnail is generated. Alternatively, you can click the 'Refresh' icon to create a new thumbnail.
Depending on the file type, tabs will be generated with additional information about the file.
Metadata Tabs
View metadata from various sources and click on a value to copy it to your clipboard.
General Metadata
MediaInfo - Support for most media formats with metadata for individual audio and video channels.
ExifTool - Primarily for photography metadata, but also supports a wide range of media formats and properties including GPS coordinates and embedded XMP which can be used to identify the project file, application version, and files used to render from Premiere Pro.
Vendor-specific Metadata
REDLine - Embedded metadata from RED cameras.
BlackmagicRAW - Embedded metadata from Blackmagic Design cameras.
ARRIRawMetaExtract - Embedded metadata from ARRI cameras.
Contents
Zip Contents - View, select, and extract the contents of a Zip file.
RDC Contents - View the individual files inside of the .RDC folder, which are accessible when the space is mounted to your desktop.
Tags
You can view the tags applied to the asset as custom metadata. The categories will be displayed as properties, and the tags will be shown as their corresponding values. If you have organized the categories into sections, those collapsible sections will also be displayed.
Click on a tag to jump to it in Libraries with that tag applied as a filter.
Available Actions
- Refresh - Reload the Inspector and generate a new thumbnail.
- Copy Link - Copy the link to the asset in the web app to the clipboard.
- Download Thumbnail - Download the thumbnail that was generated for the
- Play on Desktop - Stream the file into VLC through the desktop app, which supports a much wider range of formats than web browsers.
- Pop-out Metadata - Open the Inspector as a card that will persist as you navigate the web app.
- Launch on Desktop - Mount the space the file/folder is in (if not already) and then open it in the default application for your operating system.
- Download - Download the file via your web browser.
- Unzip or Extract from a Zip - In the ‘Zip Contents’ metadata tab, you can select items and extract them.
